The river Ganges is the central source of life for Northern India. The two sources of the Ganges are named Alaknanda and Bagirathi.

Field Level 2 should be used to calculate the spring of a larger river
I want to propose that the larger radius/field constellation 2 which decribes the glacier and larger area where the source of a river comes from should be used to astrogeographically define and judge the rivers origin. The reasons are obvious: glacier mouths are moving and spring areas of larger rivers often have a number of springs so that field levels 3 and 4 are too small and could only be used to define the astrogeographical position of one single small spring at a time.

The source area of Alaknanda (altitude: 3880 m) the 2nd spring of the Ganges river is located in the combination of highly energetic, magnetic, royal fire sign Leo the sign of the Sun and therore an indicator for the Sun god (Surya) and the god of light (Vishnu). The second coordinate falls in solid, conservative, traditionalistic earth sign Capricorn the sign of rocks and mountains, government institutions and indicator for white colour. This constellation is valid for morphogenetic radius/field level 2 and describes the larger area (city) where the Aleknanda springs originate.

The site of the traditional pilgrimage to the Ganges source is made to the place where the Bagirathi River comes out from the Gangotri Glacier at Gaumukh at 4360 m altitude. The area including the peaks of Mount Shivaling (6543 m) and Mount Bhagirathi I and II (6512 m) is located in the constellation of the two water signs Cancer and Scorpio. In mythology the name of the river goddess of the Ganges river is called Ganga although in the shivaite version the river Ganges is said to come flowing down from Shiva`s head and hair. The combination of Scorpio with Cancer seems to represent the archetypal astrogeographical combination of signs for the male and female aspects of Shiva and in many ways also for Indian culture and tradition.
Not only is the Gaumukh source of River Ganges and the confluence of the two headstreams of Ganges at Devprayag located in the combination of Cancer with Scorpio but also the holiest city Varanasi (7°Scorpio & 21°Cancer for field level 1). In Varanasi there is a belief that the source of river Ganges is directly related to Varanasi through a spiritual nadi (river like connection). Other hints at the importance of the combination of Cancer with Scorpio in Indian culture can be taken from the statistical frequencey of the Shakti peetha Shrines and Jyotirlingas and even of the Indian parliament the Lok Sabha building in the two signs.
The spring of Yamuna River is located in Leo with Gemini
For comparison: The spring of Yamuna River the second most important river in Northern India is located appr. 2.5 km above the famous Yamunotri temple in the constellation of fire sign Leo (relating to Vishnu) with air sign Gemini (relating to Ganesha, Hanuman). The polarity between the rivers Ganges and Yamuna is mythologically defined through the polarity of Shiva (Ganges) as the god of darkness with Vishnu (Yamuna) as the god of light. But as can be seen from the astrogeographic positions the reality is substantially by far more complex than the simplified polarities that divide the world into black and white: Ganges alone is fomed by two headstreams which combine the 2 basic archetypal principles in one river through their confluence at Devprayag, so that both aspects the Sun (Leo) and the Moon (Cancer) are included in Ganges River itself.
The confluence of the two headstreams of Ganges River
The constellation of Cancer the sign of springs with Scorpio the sign of chemical reactions, alchemy and transformation and the most important major indicator for confluences of rivers or rivers with sea-water is also present at Devprayag the place of the confluence (Sangam) of the two rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi which form the Ganges about 200 km from their sources. This constellation is valid for radius/field level 3 which describes how the site is embedded in the surrounding area. The resonance of the continuity of the astrogerographical coordinates of Baghirathi river at the devpraya confluence clearly points at the continuity of the Shiva related aspect of Ganges River from here.

The confluence of Ganges and Yamuna at Allahabad
The confluence of the rivers Ganges and Yamuna near the city of Allahabad is one of the most important stations on the way of River Ganges to the Indian Ocean. This site is where the spiritual beings of the two most important rivers of North India unite. Hindus worship the higjhest aspects of the rivers as gods in order to relate to their highest, most abstract and holistic potentials.
Apart from the spiritual worship of deities the rituals for fertility, wellbeing, money-flow, health, happiness, and other aspects are assumed and also reported to be more effective in such holy places than at other sites.
Astrogeographic position for morphogenetic field level 2 (city) which describes the atmosphere and energetical topics of the larger area where the confluence ot the twos superlarge rivers occurs: The site is located right on the cardinal divide in the first degree of the hierarchical, strict earth sign Capricorn indicating the position of a checkpost at the gate between two worlds. Furthermore Capricorn represents one astrogeographic coordinate at the spring of the Alakhnanda source of Ganges River. The second coordinate at the confluence is in water sign Scorpio the sign of chemical processes, alchemy and transformation which can often be observed at the confluence of rivers. And as Scorpio is present at the spring of the Baghirati source of river Ganges river both single tributaries of Ganges River are represented at the confluence of Ganges with Yamuna whereas none of the 2 astrogeographic coordinates of the Yamuna spring is present. This could explain why after the confluence the combined river is called Ganges and not Yamuna.
Varanasi the Holiest City
According to legend, Varanasi was founded by the god Shiva. This is supported by the fact that the region of Varansi is located in the combination of the two most important astrological resonating signs: Cancer and Scorpio.

Before entering into the Indian Ocean the Ganges unites with two other large rivers Brahmaputra and Meghna. Together they form the largest delta on the planet which is about 300 km wide. The astrogeographical constellation of the region here lies in air sign Libra which stands for open gates and in between Capricorn and Aquarius for radius/field level 1 which describes how the region is embedded in the continent.
