Astrology and Architecture: Renaissance Star Forts in Astrogeography

Palmanova is an excellent example of a Late Renaissance star fort. It was built by the Venetians near Udine, Italy and completed in 1593.
Astrogeographic position for field level 2 which describes how the whole of the star fort area and town is embedded in the region: both coordinates are located in self-protective, cosy, emotional water sign Cancer the sign of crabs, snails asea-shells, feeling at home, motherhood and emotional independence and authenticity. Unlike Palmanova Fort Bourtange which today lies exactly on the dutch side of the dutch-german border was not planned as a town in the first place. It was planned and construction begun by Wiliam of Orange aka The Silent to control the road between the spanish occupied city of Groningen and Germany.The castle was completed in 1593 the same year as Palmanova.
Astrogeographic position for field level 3 which describes how the fortress is embedded in the land: surprisingly Bourtange is not located in one of the typical indicating signs for fortresses like Scorpio, Capricorn, Aries, Sagittarius and others. Instead both coordinates for field level 3 are located in the 2 comparatively peaceful Venus signs: one coordinate lies in highly profitable earth sign Taurus sign of grounding, agriculture, wealth, market places, food production, local energetic centers and possession of land.
The second coordinate lies in aristocratic air sign Libra sign of beauty, decoration, harmony, balance and symmetry. Particularly the position in Libra explains the emphasis of the concept of the fortress on beauty and symmetry rather than the practical needs for defense.
The fortress at Almeida was completed in 1641 in the shape of a 12 pointed star shaped fortress. From an astrological point of view it is of course highly fascinating to the see the twelvefold structural model of the zodiac being fullfilled here by the 12 pointed star fortress.
