Chennakesava (handsome Vishnu) Temple complex in Belur, Karnataka, India.
Construction of the temple was begun from 1117 AD. The temple was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhana. Scholars are divided about the reasons for the construction of the temple. The military successes of Vishnuvardhana is considered a probable reason. The temple is famous for its fine stone carvings and as an important example of a unique Karnataka-Dravidian style.
