Rectangular shape, symmetry and decoration above all – a house resembling a piece of wedding cake? The Wedding Cake House in Kennebunk Maine was built in 1825 for shipbuilder George W. Bourne (1801–1856) who during a visit to Milan was inspired by the architecture of the west facade of Milan Cathedra – see the image below.
